A year ago I received a message from a friend about taking a dog that her daughter did not want anymore. I was hurting from my previous pet. Blu was his name and Goldie was his wife. i was very attached to my babies. We had been through a lot. I had been ejected from my previous relationship and out of spite he gave my dogs to the pound. Yes it hurt. So when I got this text, no questions asked i took her. I was very depressed at the time and lonely. So Yoshi…That’s her name, came in right on time. I was broken and felt discarded. When Yoshi came into my life she needed me and I her. I started getting up in the morning. I was always chasing her around and hiding shoes that survived her attacks. All my show were on the dresser. Lord have mercy! It was like having a 2 year old. Though frustrated at times I still needed her. I was in weeping spells and she would lay across my lap and go to sleep. We’d wake up the next morning and go through the madness all over again. This literally ran me up and out of depression. Even no when I have my bouts she is there. When no one is visiting and calling I am still ok because it’s me and Yoshi.
So what do we do.? So you go to the pharmacy. When you get there you give them your name. You let them know who you are and you say here to pick up my meds. They tell you that you can’t get them because of some technical issue. Or you can’t get your meds because your paperwork is out of date. Or you started working a job and your job has benefits or you have Medicaid so everything is jumbled up and you can’t get meds. Oh it’s so many different scenarios on how HIVers are going to the pharmacy and low and behold no meds today. That’s why it’s important to make sure that you call in your prescription a week early and keep up with your meds because it is devastating to find out that you have a glitch. Now mind you, this puts a person on edge. Because the clinic may not have extras laying around that will bridge you from that day till your meds are in. This could cause a serious bout of depression for some people who really can’t handle that type of pressure. Or that person that has been undetected for a minute and now you just may have a glitch. You may get 200 copies – 400 copies. This just depends on what or where you are with your HIV journey. Now some of us are still doing a pill a day. Some people get the shot. But nevertheless we still have that eerie time where there is a glitch. So some people may not understand your frustration with it. So they say calm down but you take your med life seriously. So sometimes you just might forget to call it in 3 days in advance or a week in advance and boom you caught in a glitch. So this post for you today is to remind you to not get caught in a glitch. Remember to call your meds in a week in advance, so that if you face some type of issue it won’t set you back. Set a reminder in your phone. Set a reminder on your tablet. Don’t rely on people to remind you. This is your HIV walk so let’s walk it out with a calendar.
This was a blessing to watch! It helps to hear other people’s stories. The power and strength in her voice was evident. The story of her first encounter of the stigma hit home. The video is a Must see!
